Editorial Review:

Product Description:
This exciting new addition to the EOS System combines compact size and affordability with an added dose of features and sophistication. Improving on the previous model, Speedlite 420EX, the new 430EX can now be set into manual flash mode (full power~1/64). Flash compensation can be set on the flash unit, and manual control of the flash zoom head is now possible. Improvements in its circuitry make recycle time 40% faster, and since it is compatible with Canon's wireless E-TTL, it can be used as an affordable "slave unit."

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A little extra light when ever I need it.
The 430ex is a nice flash allows for that extra light I need when shooting back stage of a Boys R Us drag show or photographing a model in lingerie in the middle of the city standing on a street corner.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Not intended for professionals

On its own, it's not worth much. We're actually about to send this back in exchange for another 580EX (that I currently shoot with). Spend a bit more and get a much ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Versatile flash
This is a versatile flash with many angle adjustments available. It has plenty of flash power for most users. Definitely a better choice than the 220EX.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Another great flash for EOS
Affordable and works just fine if you don't need the slave capability. And it actually recharges significantly faster the the more expensive model. I'm happy with it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Wonderful
This is the first external flash that I have ever bought. My camera is a Rebel XTI. I have been getting more serious about my hobby and decided to start upgrading a little at a time.

You just can't beat this flash. There is NO comparison between this and the built in flash! WOW. Just being able to bounce it off the walls or ceiling is a HUGE improvement. Using it as a fill flash outside it GREAT as well. It works well right out of the box so you don't have to learn every little thing ... Read More
