The digital clock/timer is programmable for automatically brewing "wake-up" coffee at a selected time and for turning off the warming plate up to four hours in advance. Removing the glass carafe from the warming plate automatically pauses the brewing process for a quick pour, and the warming plate's temperature can be adjusted.  Rating:  - I'd pay 2X as much if I had toThis is the best coffee maker I've ever seen/used. It is totally solid. My last one died after 4 years but I use it 2-3 times every day. I figure that's like 3,650 times. That's less than 2 cents per use. When it died I didn't hesitate for a second to get a new one. (It failed to make the coffee hot enough.)
