The Hard Drive looks very fancy and is very small - so you can take it with you wherever you go. There is a program you can install but it's not necessary, it works without it as well! I compared gigs to price with what would fit my Dell the best. It is small- 5 x 4 inches or so, which is nice, and comes with a 12 inch USB cable. The installation was easy and quick. I'm not a huge computer guru, so I wanted something that would be easy to manage. It works great, just what I wanted and for a price I couldn't find anywhere else.
